Jewelry storage

Any collection rhymes with storage. It is sometimes complicated to find storage that suits us, whether for aesthetic reasons or for practicality. A solution I found to overcome this problem is to create them yourself. For the lazy, I tried as much as possible to find you corresponding models that are commercialized, for the others, a list of necessary materials and small tips!

Sans titre.png

  For this model you need:

 -ice cream sticks

-glue

- a nail and a hammer

-a saw

- paint

All you have to do is build two triangle-shaped bases, glue the cut ends of the sticks well. Now, we can tackle the support of the earrings. Mark future holes. Pay attention to the width of your earring but also not to make them too close because this can not only weaken it but also worsen this phenomenon of cracking, which can be seen on my model. I tried to drill through tape but also with a screwdriver and a very small diameter screw. It didn't change anything. I think it is simply impossible to solve this problem related to the thickness of the wood which is too thin. Maybe with a drill and a micro-drill? Some jewelry such as creoles with a small diameter will require you to saw cut part of the stick (last support). Finally to finish this jewelry holder you just have to paint it as you wish (the support as well as the bases) then fix the supports to the bases. You can shore it up by adding more wooden sticks, though I don't think that helps because my build never broke.

Below is a DIY video of the construction

As this jewelry holder is only for earrings, you can accompany it with this one:

So you can either put it on a dressing table or hang it on the wall. In the latter case, you can add hooks to hang necklaces or bracelets. There are transparent sticky ticks. The negative point that can be noted with this model is that you can only hang earrings with a hook-type attachment (as in the photo)

An ecological alternative is to recycle glass bottles to attach your bracelets to.

However, your chain-type bracelets, which will surely be wider than the bottle , therefore risk falling at the bottom of the latter while getting tangled.

The following model is designed for rings but remains adaptable for necklaces and bracelets.

This last site also gives you two other ring door ideas, however I have some doubts about the first DIY. Indeed for one of the following models I tried to make one of this type of ring holder but it turned out to be very complicated. the problem was about the firmness of the cushions to hold the ring. That's why I finally ordered one. However I haven't tried this method so don't hesitate to give me feedback if you have done it.

Here is the link for the second way to make this ring holder (second image):   http://cbyclemence.com/diy-41-deco-diy-porte-bagues-en-forme- de-cone/

Indeed to adapt it to necklaces or bracelet you will just have to increase the diameter of the cone. It is also possible to make   a paper or cardboard cone if you do not have the materials necessary for the previous constructions. On the other hand, you will have to pay attention to the solidity of your construction.

These models are very aesthetic but also very bulky.

As here we do not like the mess! here is another jewelry holder with the rest of the ice cream sticks from the first model.

This model requires some thought about the size of the jewels to be transferred to the sides that will form the base. As for the first model for certain earrings as well as for the rings, it will be necessary to saw the sticks. This structure must also be reinforced in several places (arrows): the attachment between the left part and the right part, below the right supports in the central part, so that they do not fall under the weight and finally the two feet of the jewelry holder. The small negative point of this model is that it is leaned against the wall which pushes the back of the ear studs. This can be adjusted quite simply by adding a thickness on the central part.

I wanted something more resistant than my old model so I designed the one that for my taste brings together the most positive points:

Apart from once again thinking about adapting this model to your jewellery, this will require specific DIY equipment (hacksaw/wood saw). First of all, you will have to make the chest with its small drawer, being careful not to make it too wide because of the mast. To reinforce my pierced sheet (found in DIY stores), I created a thin groove in the mast in order to slide my sheet into it. I chose to place the side where the holes were close to the edge of my jail, where it was not framed so that I could attach the earrings to it by inserting them in profile. Finally to consolidate everything, I pierce my mast horizontally in order to slip a large metal rod that I tie with my pierced sheet. You can slightly bend the metal rods in order to create a stopper to prevent your jewelry from slipping off their rod. This last maneuver can be quite complicated, you can simply tie a rubber band around the rod.

Finally, if you prefer storage furniture, we also have a solution

You can find drawer storage like this

This time the pierced sheet constitutes a hinged door. I made sure to make it shorter first of all so as not to interfere with the drawers which require the full depth of the chest but even shorter in order to leave room for jewelry such as hoop earrings Since you only have the width of the sheet to arrange these jewels difficult to hang I store these as well as other jewels such as rising earrings in the drawers. I shortened one of the bracelet holders to fit the bracelets that cannot be opened. The two hooks below are made to accommodate necklaces that cannot be hung on the small fasteners on the door. In my opinion, cutting the sheet metal to do like the wooden stick models to solve this problem would require reinforcing it since the sheet metal is too fragile. This reinforcement would make the swing door too heavy. Cutting a ring display to make one in the desired size is much easier than trying to make it yourself. Indeed for a good fit, you need a very dense padding making the seams very complicated. Finally, your door may be heavy enough (especially if you put a mirror on it) to create a lack of parallelism that will have to be resolved by adding a flat bracket below and above as you can see. above.

Now that we have acquired a certain organization, it should not be set aside. Because travel goes hand in hand with holidays but certainly not with bazaar, I give you some small travel jewelry storage.

There are several other more economical tips, the first being to keep the plate on which you buy your jewelry

  • Rosie's "Lot of earrings: 10,000 Ar"

You can also hang your pairs of stud earrings on buttons

12.jpg

You can simply use a rather rigid sheet like canson in the color you want. Report the spacing of the holes on the sheet (1cm here). Although this does not see, it is necessary to double the height (arrow). So after having folded it in half,   the sheet will hold on its own when it is placed like the paper name tags you may have made during your schooling. To pierce the leaf, you can use a nail or an earring as long as it is strong enough. If you have been pierced with a gun (which I strongly advise against) the pointed earring will be perfect.

If you ever prefer to play the jewelry cabinet yourself, here is the solution:

Capture d’écran 2022-06-26 à 22.00.12.png

This necklace will not only play the role of adornment but also of jewelry holder. it is very practical so as not to lose your rings when you take them off while doing your manual activities. However, the rings of your rings must not be disconcerted otherwise they could escape to your greatest misfortune.

First of all, I would like to encourage you to create your own jewelry doors, it will be more personal and will better meet your needs. It is for this reason that I have tried as much as possible to provide you with some advice so that you have all the keys to carry out your projects. In a word, the pierced plate will be your best friend since it adapts to a large number of jewels.

Of course there are many more jewelry storage options. If you want me to talk about a particular model, please let me know, I will do my best to include the model in question in my list. In addition I will try to update this list frequently. However, there are many models that I have consciously chosen not to show, such as the cork earring holders in which the jewels are inserted because this damages them strongly, does not maintain them if you put them back in the same hole or requires changing the cork if you create another hole each time you store your jewelry again.

Indeed I believe that some models have too many negative points to be mentioned, especially since we find many much more interesting alternatives in this list.

I would like to thank my grandparents who helped me crucially for the realization of these projects.
